STR Leading for Equity 2024

Description of Course
Leading for Equity is designed to engage practicing teachers who are alumna of the UW Seattle Teacher Residency in a collaborative learning community that supports their growth in becoming antiracist practitioners and colleagues. Participants will engage in reading, reviewing cases, and working together to explore biases and assumptions and develop actions towards supporting each other as well as other emerging and practicing teachers.

Learning Objectives

  • build a collaborative learning community
  • develop understandings about what it means to be an antiracist co-conspirator
  • extend community engagement to the greater alumni community 

Course Details

Dates & Times: Nov. 14, Dec. 12, Jan. 9, Feb. 13, March 12, April 9, May 14, June 11, July 9 (4:30PM - 6:30PM)

Clock Hours: Participants can earn up to 18 equity clock hours

Instructor Bio
Mary Beth Canty is the Senior Manager of Curriculum & Induction for STR. She has been an educator in Seattle as an elementary teacher, an instructor at UW College of Ed, a Field Director for UW Elementary Teacher Prep, and now supports STR.
