RISE Study RIT Training

Earn Clock Hour for Your Participation in the RISE Study

This is a training in parent coaching in Reciprocal Imitation Teaching (RIT), for providers already enrolled in the RISE research study. There are 3 stages to the training: an online tutorial, a multi-day workshop and individual consultation.

Learning Objectives

  • Complete the Mirror Me Online Tutorial which will provide background on Reciprocal Imitation Teaching (RIT), an evidence-based, parent-mediated intervention aimed at increasing social-communication skills in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The Mirror Me Tutorial is focused on familiarization with the intervention framework, goals, and intervention techniques. It is broken down into 7 Modules that explain the 7 RIT Lessons through Lesson Videos, Self-Checks, and Exercises.
  • Attend a multi-day workshop to obtain a clear understanding of the RIT intervention framework, goals, and intervention techniques, as well as knowledge of parent coaching strategies.
  • Engage in 2 -4 individual consultation sessions during which they will practice delivering a full RIT Lesson while receiving verbal and written feedback on their fidelity to prepare them to use RIT with families on their caseloads.

Clock Hours Available

Up to 19 clock hours are available for full participation in RISE Study activities:

  • Four 90-minute Individual Consults (6 hours total)
  • Mirror Me Online Tutorial (2 hours)
  • Reciprocal Imitation Teaching (RIT) training (11 hours)
