Providers in the RISE study who are randomized to the control group participate in monthly educational and case consultations meetings. At the end of their active time in the study (i.e., when they are finished enrolling families), these providers receive training in parent coaching in Reciprocal Imitation Teaching (RIT). There are 2 stages to the RIT training: an online tutorial and a multi-day workshop.

Learning Objectives

  • Participate in monthly meetings to discuss topics of particular interest and application to their work with young children experiencing a social communication delay (e.g., neurodiversity, overview of validated autism screening tools, toileting sleeping.
  • Complete the Mirror Me Online Tutorial which will provide background on Reciprocal Imitation Teaching (RIT), an evidence-based, parent-mediated intervention aimed at increasing social-communication skills in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The Mirror Me Tutorial is focused on familiarization with the intervention framework, goals, and intervention techniques. It is broken down into 7 Modules that explain the 7 RIT Lessons through Lesson Videos, Self-Checks, and Exercises.
